The minimum requirements for employment consideration are as follows:
- Class A CDL with Hazardous Materials Endorsement
- At least 23 years of age
- Relatively clean driving record
- Good work record with few job changes
- Intermodal experience preferred
- Professional / Clean appearance
- Ability to write, speak and understand the English language proficiently
Spirit follows all Federal Motor Carrier rules & regulations concerning drug & alcohol testing. A thorough background check is performed on all applicants. Although experience is preferred, we have hired many drivers directly from driving school. However, we will only interview applicants who finished near the top of their class.
Applicants with no intermodal experience are required to ride with one of our drivers for at least two days and determine if the job is suitable for them. This riding time is prior to being hired, and no pay is given. If hired, the new driver will drive with an experienced driver in the passenger seat for one week. After this period, the new driver will be assigned a truck but will continue to receive additional training as required.
Owner / Operators must have a newer model truck and be experienced in the intermodal industry.
Owner / Operators are considered employees of Spirit Trucking.
